Exam Preparation Courses are designed for students that wish to study in an English-speaking country, work abroad or study or work in an international environment in their own country. Universities or employers typically require an overall minimum score, and our teachers work closely with our students to ensure that the achieve the desired grade. Material and activities in class focus specifically on the examination, which are adapted to target areas of development to ensure optimal results. Our courses are also designed to improve our students’ self-study skills and provide them with the tools to become a more autonomous learner. Depending on the initial level and requirements, the academic team at ECS will be able to advise each student on the best course and the ideal duration to reach the desired level.

Cambridge ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

The Cambridge English Qualifications are recognised by over 25,000 universities and employers around the world. Cambridge exams are held in March, June, August and December. Please contact ECS for details.

Cambridge (PET) – Now known as B1 Preliminary

This course will develop your ability to communicate in English for real-world tasks and situations. During the course you will learn how to read simple texts and articles, write emails, take meeting notes and show awareness of opinions in both written and spoken tasks. This valuable worldwide qualification will increase your work, study and travel prospects.

Cambridge (FCE) – Now known as B2 First

This course will teach you how to communicate effectively. You will learn how to express opinions and explain the advantages and disadvantages of different points of view in both written and spoken English. The First Qualification is proof that you have the language skills to work in an English-speaking country or study on courses taught in English. It is accepted for entry to foundation courses in English-speaking countries and is accepted for entry to undergraduate courses conducted in English in non-English-speaking countries.

Cambridge (CAE) – Now known as C1 Advanced

This course will help you develop the skills to communicate effectively at a managerial and professional level. You will learn how to participate with confidence in workplace meetings or academic tutorials and seminars. By obtaining this qualification you will be able to follow an academic course at university level.

Cambridge (CPE) – Now known as C2 Proficiency

In this course you will be well-prepared to pass the highest-level exam and show you have mastered English to an exceptional level. The lessons will be designed to help you understand the main ideas of complex pieces of writing and how to negotiate and persuade effectively at senior management level. Preparing for and passing the C2 Proficiency means you can study subjects at the highest level, including postgraduate and PhD programmes.

IELTS (International English Language Testing System)

(Minimum 8 Weeks)

This is the world’s most popular English test for higher education and global migration. IELTS uses a nine-band scale to identify levels of proficiency from non-user (band score 1) to expert (band score 9). You can decide on a module to match your goal – Academic or General Training. IELTS enables you to start your journey into work or study in another country. IELTS exams are held once or twice a month. Please contact ECS for details.
